Make Sure You Have the Right Buffers

When calibrating your pH meter, you must have the appropriate buffers. For instance, if you want to measure something with a pH level of eight, and you only calibrate your pH meter with a pH five buffer, you may not get an accurate measurement. pH measurements tend to be most accurate when the calibration points bracket or are above and below the expected pH level. At the same time, check your buffers and determine their expiration dates as that will also be a factor towards the accuracy of your readings.

 

Calibrate Your pH Meter Regularly

For the best and most accurate measurements, we highly suggest that you calibrate your digital pH meter every time you start measuring a new set of samples. Regular calibration will also help spot problems with your electrode. It does this by comparing your electrode to known buffers and calculating the offset and slope.
