Case Study Details

Australian Heritage Week (AHW) is an annual national celebration of Australia’s unique heritage. During Heritage Week, groups around Australia join the celebration by holding exhibitions, festivals, walking tours and other heritage-related events to showcase their local heritage.

The Australian Heritage Week website provides a central location for promotion of AHW events. Interested individuals around Australia can use the simple search interface to quickly find heritage events by date and by location.

More importantly, the AHW website provides Heritage groups around Australia with a convenient and low-cost way to advertise and promote their Heritage Week activities online. Many of these groups are staffed predominantly by volunteers, and do not have the resources to maintain and update their own online presence.

In its first month of operation nearly 200 events were added to the site, by groups from all Australian States and Territories.
